European mitochondria l DNA haplogroups and metabolic changes during antiretroviral therapy in AIDS Clinical Trials Group Study A5142M
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods: Seven hundred and fifty-seven ART-naive patients were randomized to one of three class-sparing ART regimens including efavirenz and/or lopinavir/ritonavir with or without nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Nonrandomized NRTIs included stavudine, tenofovir, or zidovudine, each with lamivudine. Fasting lipid profiles and whole-body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) were performed. Nine European mtDNA haplogroups were determined for 231 self-identified nonHispanic white individuals. Metabolic changes from baseline to 96 weeks were analyzed by haplogroup.

Metabolic Abnormalities in HIV-Positive Patients Receiving Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy
Background and Objective: Dyslipidemia has become a common problem in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease, especially in patients on combination antiretroviral therapy. In this study we aimed to determine the prevalence of dyslipidemia and metabolic abnormalities in 2 groups of HIV infected patients receiving highly activ...
متن کاملMitochondrial DNA variation and changes in adiponectin and endothelial function in HIV-infected adults after antiretroviral therapy initiation.
Studies in persons of European descent have suggested that mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroups influence antiretroviral therapy (ART) toxicity. We explored associations between mtDNA variants and changes in endothelial function and biomarkers among non-Hispanic white, ART-naive subjects starting ART. A5152s was a substudy of A5142, a randomized trial of initial class-sparing ART regimens that...

Ataxia-Telangiectasia (AT) is a rare human neurodegenerative autosomal recessive multisystem disease that is characterized by a wide range of features including, progressive cerebellar ataxia with onset during infancy, occulocutaneous telangiectasia, susceptibility to neoplasia, occulomotor disturbances, chromosomal instability and growth and developmental abnormalities. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDN...

Background: Given to the abundant incidence of malnutrition in HIV+ patients and its effect on progress of AIDS disease, several studies have recommended supplementation therapy (such as Selenium, Levamisole, Zinc). Methods: This clinical trial was prefunded on patient's with HIV + in Behavior Diseases Consulting Center, Kermanshah, Iran 2006-2007. One hundred-seventy eight out of all patients ...
متن کاملA Shot at Dendritic Cell-Based Vaccine Strategy against HIV-1
Introduction: Despite considerable efforts to control AIDS pandemic, it is still one of the significant infectious concerns worldwide. The advance in medical research has led to the development of highly active antiretroviral therapy with a considerable effect to suppress the disease. However, an effective vaccine capable of eradication the HIV pandemic is not available yet. Failure to develop ...
